how to fix ASUS AC86U 2.4g wifi dead in MerLin

Updated, I just disable AMPDU RTS and update my regional to Asia

Once I done it everything works normally (!?)

Every I switch back to Smart Connect in Wireless config my 2.4G still works normally:

WTF...... (?

Anyways I still used latest version of Merlin --

.... I hope there's no more any update on this.

  1. I still have many 2.4G only device e.g my Kobo reader, a lot of Mi's device ... but my 2.4G network on AC86U is dead for long time, its time to fix it!
  2. i found very very useful post in https://www.snbforums.com/threads/rt-ac86u-2-4ghz-is-gone.73547/#post-699585
  3. I try to disable all of this
  4. For maximum compatibility I would keep disabled:

    - Protected Management Frames (in Wireless, General)
    - Roaming assistant
    - IGMP Snooping
    - TX Bursting
    - WMM APSD
    - Turbo/NitroQAM
    - Airtime Fairness
    - MU-MIMO
    - Explicit Beamforming
    - Universal Beamforming

I used Wifi Explorer to scan my nearby Wifi:

at least 2.4G SSID coming up ...

But seems it still keeping dying time to time ...

and I found another post:

They problem you are experiencing is unfortunately not that uncommon. Read the hundreds of reviews on Amazon complaining of exactly the same thing. The most amazing thing is that some people having the 2.4Ghz radio issues still give this router two or three stars. The issue you are having is more than likely bad hardware.

oh my god ... :(
